4mths and full of life

Dear Samanta

This month you went from my little baby girl who didn't do an awful lot and who I still saw as my newborn to a my little baby girl who started to move more and be more aware of your body and who quickly grew out of your newborn look; however your cry still sounds like a newborn.

For a little girl who struggled putting on weight you by no means look like it now. I have started to feel the effects of carrying you around and find myself double thinking if I should carry you, pop you in the sling or pop you in the pusher. Before now it's generally always been carry or sling but not anymore and as much as you’re not a big lover of the pusher you are going to have to learn fast. The biggest problem with the pusher is that you don't like to fall asleep in it without some help.

While you have always responded to us when we come close and go to pick you up, your responses have gone from an awareness to big eyes with big smiles full of love. I many moments were I just want to hold you tight and not let you go or grow up as the love and joy you have in your eyes for me is priceless.  I catch myself wondering how long this will last and hope that you will always look at me with love, happiness and trust. I know the teenage years will be hard but hope with all my might that we can build a loving and respectful relationship and so I will always see love in your eyes. Your brother has always showed you with love and this month you have started to respond to this and have your own little way of reciprocating.

This month we also noticed that your hair is becoming lighter and starting to fall out. Your hair in the sunlight has a little red tint in it much like mine in the summer and is fast becoming thinner. I imagine that within other month or so most of your hair will have fallen out and you will soon have blood hair.  I have already seen a difference in your hair and your brothers and suspect that by the time your hair grows back you will have curls like I had. Oh I hope I am right.

Below are some things we got up to this month.
• 14 weeks – We open your 1st bank account and you start to blow bubbles (lots and lots of bubbles)

  • 14 ½ weeks – Your 0000 clothes are all packed away and your officially not wearing newborn clothes anymore
• 15 weeks – Started pulling and grabbing/holding toys. Epically loves the donkey as well as the elephant that hangs in the car.  You almost cackle when I tickle you in the right places which has a contagious effect.

• 15 ½ weeks – You start to kick at your toys in the rocker (especially donkey)
• 16 weeks – You sit in the Bumbo for the first time and loved it.
• 16½ weeks – We had a run of 3-4 nights were you slept from 8pm-5am. But it was short lived, you’re lucky you’re so cute and you settle straight away after a feed.
• 17 weeks /4mth – You enjoy your first Easter holiday and celebrate your Dad’s birthday
